Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. When she was five, she moved to Oxfordshire where she studied at the Dragon School. Emma always had the desire to be a professional actress from the age of six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy that offers part-time classes. She had already performed in numerous Stagecoach and school productions when she was ten years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was released in 1999. Emma was found by agents through their Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been chosen for these roles. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's film debut came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It was the year's top earning film, smashing records on opening day as well as the first weekend. It was highly acclaimed by reviewers, and so were the performance of three actors. The Daily Telegraph, a popular British publication, has praised Emma for her performance. Emma was awarded five nominations for her exceptional performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of a Film.
